Why, Oh Why? – Deon Unthank

 I’m thinking we all sleep just a little better at night knowing when a terrorist was apprehended.
Isn’t it funny how these young men could strike fear into the whole nation. The question is WHY, why would they ever conceive to do such a thing? Think about it, we have let them live in the most prosperous nation in the world. They enjoyed all the modern conveniences we have to offer. Why would they betray us like that?

Do you think just maybe they look at us a little differently than we do? Why would some godless people think they could come over here and judge this righteous nation? Now don’t get me wrong, there was not one right thing about what they did. Let’s look at what THEY saw for just a moment. We have become so conditioned to the world around us that we don’t even notice that sin abounds in this great nation of ours. We have been desensitized to young ladies walking immodestly down the street. We don’t even notice now when our young kids curse louder and easier than a sailor. We don’t even see our young men with their pants lower than a plumber’s working under the sink. That doesn’t even get to the movies we have become numbed to. Half naked or more women, men drinking and chasing those women who aren’t their wives. Yes, we set a radiant example for the rest of the world to see.

These terrorist struck out the way their religion teaches them to strike out at the infidel. They struck out with violence and murder. They serve a god who is mean and heartless. They serve a god who is unforgiving. What could have prevented this violence? Probably nothing and there is probably more to come.

2 Timothy 3:1-13
King James Version (KJV)
3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Wow, how much of that applies to us today. Selfish, coveting, unruly children, homosexuality, abortions, and denying the power of God. What does the last verse say to do?
From such turn away!!!! I wonder what if, what if our preachers today preached that scripture, if things might be different? We are supposed to turn away from such things, but we have been slowly indoctrinated into just ignoring that they are wrong. We need the Puritan preachers back. The Puritans were the bunch that kept this nation on the straight and narrow. They called this nation to repentance. They even went before Congress and told them to get this nation back on track with God. I don’t hear any preachers preaching that today, do you?

There is one thing that we can do. We can determine that we will start the change in us. If each one of us determines that we will “turn away” from such things, it will be the beginning of a revival across this country, and I think we need that.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, forgive me for allowing myself to become blinded to the things around me that do not bring glory to you. Help me to live each day like it is the last day, so that I may be a witness for you.
