John Bowman’s BEAUTIFUL ASHES is a perfect blend of country, gospel and bluegrass. All of the songs on this recording are spiritual or have spiritual undertones. Listening to these collection of songs I felt as though this particular album best represents John Bowman. It is simple yet perfectly put together. The songs on this album really do fit together. This is a recording about life, love and God. Like the first song says LET THE HARD TIMES ROLL, this album will take you in and let you forget your troubles for a little while. This song was actually one of my favorites. Other songs that I particularly enjoyed were LIES THE DEVIL TOLD ME and COLD DAY IN HELL. Both of these songs should be listened to closely. I enjoy a song that digs a little deeper, and these two songs definitely do. John always has that smooth almost calming voice. One that is definitely recognizable. Any fan of John Bowman or music in general will most likely enjoy BEAUTIFUL ASHES. I feel that Bowman is one of those true artists who conceptualize and birth a project. These are artists and music I love and would definitely recommend.
