Boyce Flener of the Crossmen Quartet Passes Away

We received word that Boyce Flener of the Crossmen Quartet passed away last evening. The following was taken from the Childress Family Newsletter:

Dear Friends,

CrossmenMainGraphic3_3x2[1] We are coming to you with sad news that our dear friend and “brother,”  Boyce Flener of The Crossmen Quartet, passed away last evening.  However, we rejoice in knowing that he is with the One for whom he sang about and served for so many years and that his cancer and pain has been defeated.  We recall hearing Boyce sing “We Shall See Jesus” at his benefit concert in October.  What a blessing!  I know the power of the Holy Spirit just energeized him to sing that song like he had never sung it before.  He was exhausted after singing it, but you wouldn’t know that during the performance.  As he is celebrating now in Heaven, I suppose he would be singing one of his most requested songs, “If You Could See The View From Here.”  What a view that must be!  While we will miss Boyce, we would not want to call him back to this world, but we will await the day when we will join with him in singing once again, but we will be singing from Heaven’s shores.

Please continue to keep his beautiful wife, Kimberly, and his wonderful family in your prayers.  They were such a wonderful support to Boyce during these difficult days.  They will draw much needed strength from those prayers.  We, along with many of you who have lost a loved one to this dreadful thing called cancer or other disease, can atest to the need for continued prayers in the coming days.  The memory of losing my brother just a few years ago to cancer is still very vivid to me and to our family.  Boyce was like a brother to us and our hearts are grieving once again for this “brother.”  Also, remember The Crossmen who presently consist of Scott who is Boyce’s younger brother, Darren and Dale, as well as other former members who were close to Boyce who have been filling in with the group during Boyce’s illness.  They will also need your prayers in the days ahead for their ministry.

We do not know of the funeral arrangements at this time; however, if you are interested, we will post them on our website and on our Facebook page for those who might want to know.  We will also try to post an address if you would like to send a card to Boyce’s family.

Blessings,

Teresa Childress Lutz

There is a loving article about Boyce on the front page of this site. If you care to read it here is a link: http://www.absolutelygospel.com/2016/02/01/lifting-up-boyce-flener-of-the-crossmen/ . I am leaving the article up for a few days to show the love and concern of a wonderful Southern Gospel group.
