I had a chance to talk with a young man who is the next generation of the Whisnant family! From golf to baseball, video games to Mustang GTs, Asian fare to BBQ, Ethan loves them all. Here are some questions I asked him and received some very good answers, wise beyond his years. Join me and get to know one of the next generation men of gospel music, Ethan Whisnant.
Chris Jenkins– How did you first discover Southern Gospel?
EW– My mom and dad have been singing their whole life. My brother and I began singing as soon as we could talk. I have been in love with this music all of my life.
CJ– What is playing right now in your car or iPod?
EW– I Go To The Rock by Whitney Houston (Feat. The Georgia Mass Choir)
CJ– Who is some of your musical mentors/heroes?
EW– I think it goes without saying that my parents are my heroes of this music but also other people like Mark Trammell, Gerald Wolfe, The Talleys and that’s just to name a few.
CJ– If you could make your own all-star group, who would the members be?

CJ– Where have you always wanted to perform and why do you hope to get to someday?
EW– I would love to sing somewhere over seas. Maybe somewhere like The Sydney Opera House in Sydney Australia.
CJ– What is the most interesting fact about you?
EW– I absolutely love what I do. Hopefully I will still be singing with my family and playing the piano as well.
CJ-How do you feel about the direction of Southern Gospel music? What would you change if you could?
EW– I think we just have to keep on keeping on. As long as we, the gospel music groups, will stay in touch and in fellowship with the Lord and desire and seek and be in his perfect will, I think He will keep his hand on all of our ministries for years and years to come.
