Salt – Terry Unthank
I love watermelon, however I like mine cold and salty. That’s right I like lots of salt on my watermelon. It’s amazing because the watermelon doesn’t change when I add salt, the color remains, the seeds are still there, but why does it taste different? The salt hasn’t lost its flavor and it brings out the great taste.
Matthew 5-13 states “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men”.
Have you ever tried salt substitute? Some may be ok but I have to admit I tried one and it not only didn’t bring out the flavor of the food, the salt actually tasted bad. It had a taste of its own, (not good).
My point is, it’s not up to us to be the answer to everything, but it is our responsibility to help show the goodness, grace and mercy of our Lord. The Bible tells us to Taste and see that the Lord is good. He is the answer. Are we leading people to the goodness of God, or is our own lives leaving a bad taste in others. “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man”. Colossians 4:6.
