Nashville, Tennessee (September 14, 2016) The International Bluegrass Music Association has announced award-winning singer/songwriter Jerry Salley among its list of nominees. Jerry has earned a spot in the coveted Songwriter of the Year category for his work this past year. Jerry had a remarkable run of 42 cuts on bluegrass albums during the eligibility period.
Jerry was honored to join an elite group of writers in this category. Other writers nominated included Charles Humphrey III, Chris Jones, Tammy Rogers King, Milan Miller, and Donna Ulisse.
Jerry stated, “Thank you IBMA! I am honored to be included in this list of incredibly talented nominees.”
In addition to Songwriter of the Year, two songs that Jerry co-wrote also landed additional nominations. The Song of the Year category includes, “Long Way Down” (co-written by Jerry Salley, Liz Hengber & Tammy Rogers King), recorded by The Steel Drivers on their Grammy award winning album, The Muscle Shoals Recordings (Rounder Records). Also, “All Dressed Up” (co-written by Jerry Salley & Dianne Wilkinson), recorded by Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers (Rebel Records) on their Sacred Memories album, is nominated for Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year.
The IBMA Awards are presented annually at the The International Bluegrass Music Awards Show during the World of Bluegrass. The awards show is the biggest night on the bluegrass calendar, featuring outstanding performances by the best in bluegrass and once-in-a-lifetime moments. Jerry recently received more exciting news that Chris Stapleton’s song “Outlaw State of Mind” which was co-written by Chris Stapleton, Jerry Salley, and Ronnie Bowman is featured in the movie Hell or High Water starring Jeff Bridges, Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Ben Foster (Lone Survivor). The movie is currently in theaters.
