This CD starts off in a really neat way. You feel like you’re on a front porch of a little country church as the people greet each other. A young female vocalist sings the lead on an old song, “Jesus Built This Church On Love.” She has a very good voice. At the end, they add that extra “umph” by adding a choir. It’s followed up by a bluesy style on “Sweeter As The Days Go By.” I grew up listening to this song in my church, so it brings back lots of memories. They did a wonderful job on it. Things slow down a little bit with the next song, “God’s Appointed Time.” This is a great song of encouragement that talks about God’s timing.
Next up is an a cappella version of “Til The Storm Passes By.” This shows off some really good, family harmonies. “Bless His Name” speeds things back up. A young girl has the lead on this as well. The young girls in this family can really sing. I really like this one. It’s very catchy. This would be a great radio release. “Mama’s Prayer” is up next. There’s such a great message in this song. Awesome! “Grateful” shows off a male vocalist. He has a very different voice. It’s very bluesy and very unique. This song is upbeat and what I call a “head bobber.”
“But For The Blood” showcases the mother’s voice. It is a traditional style, Southern Gospel song. Her voice fits this style really well. It is followed by “Love At First Sight.” This song portrays a good message of when Jesus opens your eyes, it is love at first sight. The Pruitt Family end the project with a good, fast song entitled, “Making A Way.” It’s a great campmeeting style song. This is good stuff!
Overall, I give this project 4 ½ stars. This family is very talented and did a fantastic job on this project. If you like good, family harmony with talented young people, this is a CD you will want to add to your collection. Great job guys!
