REVIEW: Ray Stevens – Just a Closer Walk With Thee
Producer: Ray Stevens
Record Label: Gaither Music Group
Website: www.raystevens.com
Ray Stevens is a name most of us are familiar with. Gaining popularity in the country, pop and inspirational genres, Stevens had many popular songs we would recognize such as the fun song “Mississippi Squirrel Revival” and one I personally love is “Everything Is Beautiful.”
Ray has always had a love and admiration for gospel music. This recording is a collection of gospel songs that will be familiar with all people. “This Old House” is one that the Southern Gospel community will remember from the Cathedral Quartet, followed by another classic, “On The Jericho Road.”
“Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” “When The Saints Go Marching In,” and “Just A Little Talk With Jesus” are a few more you may recognize and love. All songs on this CD are done in true Ray Stevens style that will surely appeal to the avid fan.
For me this project is a bit dated in production however, it brings back many fond memories for me as I listen to these classics. If you love Ray Stevens or classic songs you will want to pick this up and give it a listen.
