REVIEW: The Inspirations – The One In the Water
Producer: Jeff Collins
Record Label: Sonlite Records/Crossroads Music Group

This is a classic Inspirations album. It starts off with upbeat song “The One In The Water.” It’s a very traditional quartet style song. Next up is “I Want To Be Like My Lord.” I like the fiddle intro on it. This is another good, upbeat tune. This is my favorite song on the album. It has a bass lead with the other parts as backups. It’s fun, and the message is good. “I Know Him” slows things down to a slow/medium pace. It is followed by an upbeat, medium paced song “When Jesus Turns My Prison Into My Shouting Ground.” As a songwriter, I listen to the lyrics intently, and the lyrics in this song are very well written.
The album takes a slight turn with “I Shall Not Be Moved.” It’s got a 50s style sound to it. “Teaching Me To Fly” and “I Am So Blessed” are slower tunes with messages of encouragement. Next is “We Are Christians.” It’s a good song about not being ashamed to say that we’re Christians. “Thank God For Preachers” is a traditional Inspirations song. They end the project with “Jesus They’re Offended At Your Name.” It is a song of truth that makes you think. I give this album 4.5 stars. If you are an Inspirations fan, you will not be disappointed. It stays true to the Inspirations sound.
