Jonathan Wilburn is no stranger to gospel music.  He got his start at a young age singing in church and was introduced to the stage by his family group, The Wilburns. From there, he went on to be the lead singer with the famous Gold City, where he sang for over 12 years. In 2011, Jonathan’s son, Jordan traveled with him, and they sang as a father/son duet Wilburn & Wilburn winning the hearts of many people.  Earlier this year, Jordan made the decision to come off of the road to spend more time with his wife and young children, however, Jonathan is still traveling and singing as a soloist.

Jonathan’s latest project, Tell Me The Story, is his first album on the Daywind label as a soloist. It features a variety of hymns, patriotic songs, and original material. These songs are sure to be a hit among fans of his because of the traditional and country based sound that only Jonathan can deliver. This project has some of the favorite hymns that most of us grew up singing like the title cut “Tell Me The Story of Jesus,” Heaven Medley of “In The Sweet By and By,” “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder,” and “When We All Get To Heaven,” “Rock of Ages,” and “Jesus Paid It All.” You will find yourself singing along as I did.  Other favorites are “Peace In The Valley” and of course, “I’ll Fly Away” which is a peppy, hand clapping, toe tapping, foot stomping one. These songs or messages will never grow old, so let’s just keep singing them.

Battle Hymn Of The Republic” and “God Bless The USA” are the patriotic songs on this project and are nicely done with Jonathan’s smooth vocal, and this country definitely needs to hear them.  The last two songs that I will highlight are “Some Things Never Change” and “Calvary’s Cross.”  Both of these are powerful songs that reminds us the price that our Savior paid for us, the stone is rolled away and the tomb is empty, He is risen and still alive today. He died on Calvary’s cross for all!

Jonathan is a spirit-filled singer with great energy.  This mixture of great songs makes this an easy listening project and definitely one for your gospel collection.  You will enjoy singing right along. There are too many good songs to pick a favorite but if I had to pick one, I would choose “Calvary’s Cross.”  Grab your copy of this project today!
