June 24th will be an evening of simultaneous joy for those attending The Greater Houston Gospel Songfest and for the concert hosts, Dignity Gospel Quartet. This third event in the annual series of 6 “songfests” will feature Tribute Quartet and The Inspirations as featured artists insuring an evening of top quality gospel music. Tribute Quartet has appeared for several years as one of the June performers and is held in great esteem by Songfest supporters. The addition of The Inspirations for their first appearance on the Songfest stage has taken the excitement and anticipation of the event to a new level.
Dignity Gospel Quartet initiated The Greater Houston Gospel Songfest as the promoter and hosts nearly 15 years ago. During that time the event has become a favorite stop each year for many of the well-known artists in Southern Gospel Music.
This event will also be a joyous time for Dignity Gospel Quartet and their followers. It will mark the official release date of their newest recording project, “Witness.” Dignity Gospel Quartet was founded in 2004 and has performed continuously since then. Russell Allen, the quartet’s manager believes this project to be the best of all their recordings. “Almost two years in the making, it is the first project we’ve done that has songs that would not typically be included on the same project. It contains different genres, styles, and lyrical methods of delivering the consistent message of the love and grace of God. Although we remained steadfast to the mission we felt God placed before us, there were times I simply had trouble understanding the path God was laying out for us. Even after collaboration with trusted producers, arrangers, and fellow artists it was only when we placed them in the order they appear on the project and listened to the final mixes that we could see the miraculous work of God in its design. We can’t wait to share it because we think it will appeal to a broader range of music lovers and speak to them in a way that will turn their hearts to God. For our strictly Southern Gospel fans, SG is still our favorite genre and we believe our great arrangers have done a remarkable job of keeping us “in the pocket, in the groove.”
