Front Row, Chair 6 – Bryan Hutson

A few weeks ago, Soul’d Out sang at First Baptist Church in Grove City, OH. It was a Saturday evening concert with our friends; “Soul Purpose Quartet.”

As Matt Rankin was beginning the invitation that evening, I turned around and knelt at one of the chairs in the Choir to pray. I prayed for my marriage, wife, family and for myself. I was almost finished when the Lord spoke to me and impressed on me to pray for the person that “sits HERE in the choir.”
I looked down the row to count the number of chairs. It was Chair 6.
I wondered if the occupant of this chair, might be someone who is struggling with finances, or maybe has a strained relationship. I thought, maybe in the morning while the Choir is singing, maybe this singer will be wondering if their ministry is effective. I wondered..
So, I just asked God to bless their life. I asked whatever they might need, that God; our provider might fulfill that need. I asked that He would send someone to encourage their heart.
That’s the awesome thing about prayer. I didn’t have to know this person to pray for them.
I want to challenge myself and YOU today, that as you go about your schedule, that you would ask God to bring someone to your mind that you can pray for.
Maybe someone who haven’t seen or spoken to in years. It might even be someone that you see everyday.
James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
Praying for others is an act of love. Praying for someone that we don’t even know is even greater. See, prayer is taking time out of our schedule and speaking to God.
Prayer can change things.. And can change us.
Prayer starter: “Father, I want to connect with YOU today. I ask that You bring someone to my mind or in my path today that I can pray for. In Jesus name. Amen.”
