One Hour Concert Special for Sirius XM’s enLighten Channel to Air in January

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Jan. 11, 2016—Multiple Academy of Country Music Award-winning artist Gordon Mote recently performed songs from his brand new project, Gordon Mote Sings Hymns and Songs of Inspiration (New Haven Records) for an invitation-only crowd at SiriusXM’s studio in the tower of the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.Introduced by long-time friend and SiriusXM host Kyle Cantrell, Mote entertained the audience for an hour with such selections as “Great Is Thy Faithfulness, “When We All Get to Heaven,” and his upcoming radio single, “Only Jesus Can Heal This Hurting World.”

Cantrell comments, “Gordon Mote is one of the most gifted musicians and vocalists in Southern Gospel today, and it was a great honor to have him in our studio.  It was especially a treat for me to renew an old friendship, and to get to hear him perform live in such a powerful way.”

The recorded concert will premiere on the enLighten channel Jan. 16 at noon ET. Billed as “North America’s Southern Gospel Station,” SiriusXM’s enLighten channel (channel 65) is available commercial-free via satellite to more than 29 million subscribers.

Gordon reflects, “Growing up in our little town of Gadsden, AL, our whole family would listen as Harry Butler hosted ‘Songs of Inspiration’ every Sunday morning on WGAD Radio. Even though we were just kids, my brother and I couldn’t wait to hear the latest songs from new and familiar groups. Over the decades, ‘Songs of Inspiration’ has blessed—and still blesses–lots of folks. In some small way, I’m hoping to honor and extend that legacy with this new project.”

Produced by Mote and industry legends Phil Johnson and Wayne Haun, Gordon Mote Sings Hymns and Songs of Inspiration is an all-new treasury of traditional favorites and new classics blending Inspirational, Southern, Country and Pop styles to create an album that is fresh yet timeless.

New Haven Records president Ken Harding concludes, “It’s amazing that someone can start out being inspired by a local station in Alabama and eventually share his own songs of inspiration on the world’s largest satellite radio platform. Gordon has a gift to make the most familiar song seem new and the newest song feel ageless. We’re thrilled to share his new album with the world.”

Absolutely Gospel Music
Formed over 19 years ago by Deon & Susan Unthank originally as SoGospelNews.com, the site was birthed from an email discussion group by the same name. The SoGospelNews email discussion list was created by the Unthanks after the Singing News shut down its extremely popular discussion list. SoGospelNews started as a simple webpage listing artists, fans, individuals, etc. that were avid supporters of the newly formed SoGospelNews talk list. The site eventually took on printing news for Southern Gospel artists, and eventually took on reviewing the latest recordings from both signed and independent artists within the small genre. SoGospelNews became the most viewed Southern Gospel website on the Internet with over 4,000,000 hits per month.

The Unthank family are now involved in the site, as well as the addition of over two dozen staff writers. The website is based out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In April 2010, SoGospelNews changed its name to AbsolutelyGospel.com. The name change allows them to cover news items of not only Southern Gospel, but also Country Gospel, Inspirational, and Black Gospel.

On January 5, 2011, Susan Unthank passed away, leaving the website in control of Deon, their son, Chris, and their daughter Amy.
