REVIEW: Marvin Morrow – Walking Thru the Fire

mmorrow-walkingthroughthefireProducer: Marvin Morrow
Record Label: Independent
Website: www.marvinmorrow.org

Marvin Morrow’s latest release, Walking Thru the Fire, is full of country/bluegrass tunes. Marvin has been singing a long time and his voice is reminiscent of Mark Bishop and his style will remind listeners of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver or perhaps The Primitive Quartet. Marvin does a great job making country gospel music, and this project is no exception.

The fast paced “Back on the Mountain” has a definite country flair and is a great way to kick the project off. “Go Down To Ninevah” is one of the most unique songs on the record. You don’t hear many songs written about Jonah and Ninevah, but this one is done well and a fun song!

“You Are Worthy,” a mid-tempo testimony song, is delivered with conviction and power. Marvin’s voice fits this style like a glove. “If I Could Have One More Tomorrow,” “Let Your Light Shine Brother,” and “It Still Takes the Blood” are other standouts on the project and will definitely be great in concert.

Marvin Morrow knows how to sing and write great music. If you’re a fan of christian country and bluegrass you need to check this project out. You’ll be glad you did!
