Have you ever noticed that people that don’t believe in “HELL“, sure bring the subject up a lot. Oh, it seems like every other word they say is “HELL THIS!” or “HELL THAT!” Well, it always makes me cringe when I hear them use the word so loosely, because one day they’re going to realize “HELL” is really a place where no one will want to spend eternity. It’s Pastor Phil of Harvest Chapel with a GOOD WORD from GOD’S WORD today.
A man used the word “HELL” in a sentence the other day at the point of his frustration and I simply asked, “What’s HELL got to do with that?“, and he had a blank look on their face. Well, I’ve come to the conclusion most people really don’t understand what they’re saying and they’ve brought that terrible place down to a meaningless word. And, to make the problem worse, HELL is not mentioned from the pulpit much anymore. I think we’re doing the unaware public a disservice by not warning them about HELL. I know it’s not something that Christians like to talk about, but Jesus said in Matthew 7:13, “For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.”
So, if the subject comes up in someone’s misuse of the word HELL, don’t get made at them, just say, “Hey, that’s a REAL PLACE you know and if you’ve got a minute, I think I can help you understand it better.”
