Nashville, TN (April 24, 2016) The phenomenal Gospel group, Goodman Revival has not been around but a short while and  they have already added a new Award to their resume. On Tuesday, April 12th, Goodman Revival received an award for the excellence in their field winning the 2016 AGM Ovation Award forTraditional Recording.

Goodman Revival sings a wonderful mixture of classic Happy Goodman Family songs, as well as a new song co-written by Johnny Minick and Rev. Tim Hill of “He’s Still In The Fire” fame. The Traditional Recording Award puts them on another rung higher on the ladder they are climbing to attain their ultimate goal of reaching more people with the Good News of the Gospel of Christ.

Johnny Minick commented, “This Award is totally unexpected since I am pulled in so many directions as Pastor of River of Life Church, preach several camp-meetings and revivals each year, and still love to sing with my two friends Michael and Tanya. All I can say is God is good.”

In addition to having a great night at the AGM Awards, Goodman Revival and the Guardians recently performed together on a concert stage as well as at a chapel service where Johnny Minick was speaking and the Guardians performing the special music. The mutual respect and comradery sparked an idea for the two groups to possibly work together in the future.

GuardiansandJohnnyMinick326Dean Hickman of The Guardians commented, “The Guardians have had the pleasure to perform with Goodman Revival on several occasions over the past few months. A spectacular group with remarkable personalities. We also had the privilege of performing the music for Reverend Johnny Minick at the Bill Bailey Palmetto Chapel Service in February 2016. We are still talking about his sermon. Thank you Goodman Revival for your exceptional delivery of the gospel.”

Johnny Minick stated, “As the Guardians were ministering in song before I delivered my message, the presence of the Lord that was upon these guys really enhanced the rest of the service.”

Absolutely Gospel Music
Formed over 19 years ago by Deon & Susan Unthank originally as SoGospelNews.com, the site was birthed from an email discussion group by the same name. The SoGospelNews email discussion list was created by the Unthanks after the Singing News shut down its extremely popular discussion list. SoGospelNews started as a simple webpage listing artists, fans, individuals, etc. that were avid supporters of the newly formed SoGospelNews talk list. The site eventually took on printing news for Southern Gospel artists, and eventually took on reviewing the latest recordings from both signed and independent artists within the small genre. SoGospelNews became the most viewed Southern Gospel website on the Internet with over 4,000,000 hits per month.

The Unthank family are now involved in the site, as well as the addition of over two dozen staff writers. The website is based out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In April 2010, SoGospelNews changed its name to AbsolutelyGospel.com. The name change allows them to cover news items of not only Southern Gospel, but also Country Gospel, Inspirational, and Black Gospel.

On January 5, 2011, Susan Unthank passed away, leaving the website in control of Deon, their son, Chris, and their daughter Amy.
