Before you can get what God wants you to have, you have to move into it with your mind and recognize that God may have blessed some things in your past, but this is a new season in your life.

Take a look at the movie stars in Hollywood, for instance. They try to nip and tuck and pull and stretch to get back into their twenties. The problem is they are in their thirties and forties now and are still trying to live in a day that will never be again.

Some individuals would like to take the church back to something that was wonderful at one time, but it’s not relevant now. God is a moving and progressive God. He is not a monument. Building a monument is an effort to praise the past and, while we may appreciate it, we can’t live there. Remember, that was then; this is now. As God was bringing His people through the wilderness, He gave them manna and quail to eat, but when they came to the Promised Land, it stopped.

The Israelites cried to come out of Egypt, and then they cried to go back again when the manna ceased. The Lord was weaning them in order to give them vineyards they didn’t plant and houses they didn’t build. They desperately were holding onto the past. Some people continually talk about moving into a new season, but the truth is, they are not even ready for this current season. At times, we all need to close the door on things God is finished with.

As previously cited, God used the brazen serpent that Moses lifted on a pole to help bring deliverance to His people. God used it one time, but 600 years later they were still carrying the pole. They didn’t understand that their growth in God required change. It is true that not all change is growth, but I assure you that all growth is change. What if God changes the way He blesses you? What if He changes the way He feeds you? Are you prepared to eat from another tree? Don’t starve to death trying to get nourishment from something God used at one time, but is not using now.
