Luke 19 tells a story about a man named Zacchaeus. He was a rich man, however he was also a short man. Zacchaeus sought to see Jesus who he was. The bible tells us he could not see Jesus for the press, because he was little of stature. In other words the crowd was in his way. In the world we live in, there are so many things that try to get in the way between us and God. Fear, doubt, depression, sickness, pride, our past, lies of the enemy and so much more. Sometimes these things can be so large, however I’m reminded of what Romans 8:35-39 says
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay,in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. ForI am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Things may try to get in our way but we must realize that they can’t keep us from getting to Jesus. Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see Jesus. Sometimes we may have to climb some, or we might have to press through, but we can get to Jesus. Do you remember the man in the Bible whose friends took the roof off to get him to Jesus because the place was full. If you have to, grab ahold of some praying friends and make up your mind you will get to Jesus, and nothing will stay in your way.
