We hear all the time that we living in America live in the land of the free.
Have you ever wondered why we live in such a free nation?
Is it just happenstance that we in America have liberties that no other country offers their citizens?
No, it’s not happenstance and it’s not accident. The founders of this great nation knew exactly what they were doing. The founding principles on which this great nation was birthed are Judeo/Christian principles. Now I know that this strikes fear in the hearts of those who want to change our nation, but any one who has read any of the works of our founding fathers knows that throughout all of their writings their references are to God, Christ, Providence, Savior, etc. .
America is so blessed because God has honored the Christian values that have run this country for so long. We as Christians have taken for granted it that God will always bless our country. The truth is that we as Christians have let down our guard and let men of little or no Christian character run our government. We have sat home on election days and passively watched as our country has faded from it’s once Christian values to values today that don’t even frown on abortion, gay marriage and keeping poor people down, but encourage these things.
Enough of my soap box, my message today is we can’t do anything about the past, but we can take charge as of today. Today, let us make efforts to pray for our nation. Let us pray for our President, our Senators, our Representative, and our Judges.
Independence Day is coming this Monday. Let us make a vow to start anew in praying for our nation.
There is nothing that we can do to bring our nation back to the greatness it once was, but God can.
2 Chronicles 7:14
King James Version (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
There are several things that this scripture says we need to do for God to heal our land, but praying is a good start. Won’t you join me this week in starting a new tradition as Christians who pray daily for our nation.
