I love great Southern Gospel music that is not afraid to branch into other genres of music without losing the “heart” of the song and message. I love it when I see a new group that comes along that has made the decision to be their “own”…have their own sound, their own style, their own authenticity and yet stay true to who they are and who they represent. The Erwin’s are that group to me! Fresh young faces, great look, incredible voices, wonderful songs and a fresh and true anointing on what they are singing, sharing and talking about. These four talented siblings from Texas, Keith, Kody, Kris and Katie are absolutely amazing. They have traveled since birth with the evangelist parents and they are still out there over 270 dates a year touching lives with their music and message. This new project entitled, ONLY FAITH CAN SEE is produced by Wayne Haun and what a fabulous job he has done once again. Together they have picked songs that truly make this collection of songs flow in such a beautiful way. Definitely a southern gospel fan’s music, but it will also appeal to those folks who like country and inspirational music. The project starts off with the bouncy and catchy tune, UP & OUT OF THE VALLEY and then from there to the end of the project, you have a tapestry of “heart” songs that are sure to speak to the listener in a multiple of ways. My favorite songs on the CD are, ONLY FAITH CAN SEE…which is not only the title track, but also the current radio single that is out and rising, then I love the songs, HE’S TILL ALIVE, THE SAME GRACE, CLOUDS and an incredible version of the CCM super group Avalon’s number one song from years ago, called EVERYTHING TO ME. Katie is a little superstar, and her voice is maturing incredibly well…the brothers each stand -alone so well, and then add them all together and nothing like that family harmony. I cannot wait to hear The Erwin’s do a whole concert. I just love them!
Now I honestly think these kids are such a huge part of the future of the Southern Gospel music and I sure hope that the industry and those so called “guards” of the SG world will allow them into it and even better yet, promote them and push them to the audience. These kids are amazing and I so enjoyed this project and cannot wait to hear more!
