Donald Gene McGlamery, 70, of Gallatin, Tennessee and formerly of Valdosta died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on September 27, 1946, a son of the late Hazel Murchison McGlamery and Alfred McGlamery. Mr. McGlamery was assistant manager for Peoples Finance and enjoyed selling cars and real estate. Don owned Mayne’s Mobile Home Park and co-owned Bemiss Auto Sales with his brother, Mac. Mr. McGlamery was a supporter of Southern Gospel Music, especially his favorite group, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound.
Survivors include two sons and daughters in law, Omar and Enid McGlamery of Valdosta and Omar’s mother, Linda; Devin and Karen McGlamery of Gallatin, TN and Devin’s mother, Sandra; his grandchildren, Quin, Zain, Karlyn, Preston; his stepchildren; Kim (Billy) Caton of Savannah, GA, Ron (Kim) Wayne of Valdosta; stepgrandchildren, Kaleb, Elyssa, Brayden, Logan; his brother, Mac McGlamery of Valdosta; his sister, Arlene Blanchard of Valdosta; his aunt, Halsie Dekle of Thomasville, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, October 14, 2016 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Franklin Vinson officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10am-11am at the funeral home. Formed over 19 years ago by Deon & Susan Unthank originally as, the site was birthed from an email discussion group by the same name. The SoGospelNews email discussion list was created by the Unthanks after the Singing News shut down its extremely popular discussion list. SoGospelNews started as a simple webpage listing artists, fans, individuals, etc. that were avid supporters of the newly formed SoGospelNews talk list. The site eventually took on printing news for Southern Gospel artists, and eventually took on reviewing the latest recordings from both signed and independent artists within the small genre. SoGospelNews became the most viewed Southern Gospel website on the Internet with over 4,000,000 hits per month.

The Unthank family are now involved in the site, as well as the addition of over two dozen staff writers. The website is based out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. In April 2010, SoGospelNews changed its name to The name change allows them to cover news items of not only Southern Gospel, but also Country Gospel, Inspirational, and Black Gospel.

On January 5, 2011, Susan Unthank passed away, leaving the website in control of Deon, their son, Chris, and their daughter Amy.
