He Sees Our Worth The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing (Zephaniah 3:17 KJV). My whole life, I’ve been a daddy’s girl. When I was little, I would go with him to work and sit in his office just to be with him. Anytime I got in trouble (which I often did) before my dad could ever get around to my punishment, I was already squalling my eyes out. The thought that he was disappointed at something I did or was upset with me was always the worst part of the punishment for me. I loved to hear my dad say, “I am proud of you.” To this day when I hear those words come out of his mouth, I get tears in my eyes. Some of the best memories I have are of the times my dad engulfed me in his arms and said, “I’m so proud of you,” and then I felt this sense of great accomplishment. I felt like that was the highest honor I could achieve. When I read this verse in Zephaniah, I instantly thought of the feeling of being in my father’s arms and hearing those words. Then, as I continued to think about it, amazement came over me to think that my God is proud of me. He rejoices over me with joy; He joys over me with singing. Even more mind-blowing to me is to realize that to be proud of me He must know me. Although there are billions of people in the world, He still knows me. I am important enough for Him to know who I am. He knows everything about me. Sometimes, as women, we fail to see worth in ourselves or in others, but God never fails. He knows our worth before we do. He sees something worth being proud of. Like my father did when I was young, God will wrap his arms around you and swell up with pride because you are His and He rejoices over you.
