One of the many joys that I get from being able to review projects, is when I hear a project from a group that’s been around, yet I haven’t heard. And then the added bonus is when the music, vocals and artistry is really good. A wonderful pleasant surprise awaited me, when I was asked to review the latest project PARABLES from THE JOYLANDERS. This group has been traveling, singing and ministering for over 30 plus years with numerous recordings and through it all, their main focus and desire is to share Jesus and the Hope and Peace He brings no matter what we are all going through. Their music is great mixture of southern gospel and bluegrass with a strong acoustic feel. After checking them out on their website, you can tell they love what they do and their schedule is full. This project has 14 songs on it, and I loved the choice of the songs. It’s a solid mixture of new songs, with a hymn added and a couple of classics. I loved what I heard, and was not disappointed in the least. Their radio single, I’M CHECKING OUT will certainly get you up on your feet. Of course, as anyone who knows me, I love love those big ballads and this CD has several that made me re-listen to them a few times, including THERE’S NO OTHER GOD, HEAVEN’S RIDGE, DOWN IN THE VALLEY and of course one of my favorite Hymns of all time, THE OLD RUGGED CROSS. There is a diverse group of songs, and they all do what I love songs to do for us…they touch our hearts. The closing song is a classic song I have heard many times, but THE JOYLANDERS dress it up and make it their own, NOW I HAVE EVERYTHING. Perfect song to end a fabulous project that I would recommend to all of you.
