Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift. 2 Corinthians 9:15

Every year about this time, I start to think about the gifts I want to give at Christmas. Wouldn’t you like to be able to give that perfect gift to the ones you love? A gift that brings smiles, laughter and happiness, not for just a fraction of time, but for eternity. We know it is not possible for mere mortals to produce such a gift, but nothing is impossible for God. And He has done just that by giving His Son, Jesus, to be our Savior.

Oh, but wait a minute! No, it is not possible for us to produce this gift; but, we don’t have to because that has already been done by our Father. We can be a part of this “unspeakable gift” by being the light of the world that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 5:14. You are the light of the world.

That is what God has called each of us to be after receiving him as our Savior. We are called to be a lighthouse pointing other to Him. In becoming a child of God, His spirit that comes to live within us should give us a burning desire to share the truth of the gospel to others. Too many of us keep this truth as if it were a secret. This gift that God gave is one that keeps growing and giving. It is a gift that changed the world and will do so until He comes again. It is a gift that you can share with everyone, and the sharing of it is necessary in order for it to bring true happiness to you and change the world around you.

This year, try giving everyone a glimpse of Jesus in your life and show them what He has done for you. Let’s make a gift of ourselves to others by showing love, joy, peace, hope, longsuffering and so much more. Let us show forth a Christ-like spirit to the world and lay aside anything that would make us a stumbling block to others. In so doing, you will be giving the gift of a Christ-like spirit to others and in turn help point them to Jesus.

Father, help me to rejoice in the gift of Your Son and to willingly share that gift with others.

Childress Family

Ken and Marlene Childress began singing with their children, Teresa, Carla and Shannon, almost 40 years ago. Ken had been singing with a quartet called The Golden Keys. But when he and Marlene discovered that their children were blessed with the ability to sing harmony and play instruments at a young age, they decided to form The Childress Family. Teresa played the piano and a short time later, Carla picked up the bass guitar and began to play. Their son, Shannon, was a high tenor singer until about age 13, when his voice went to the other end of the spectrum and he sang low bass. Marlene has been blessed with the ability to write some wonderful songs that have been recorded by numerous artists in the gospel music industry.
