REVIEW: Matt Linton – I’ve Got to Praise Him

Producer: Shane Roark
Record Label: Chapel Valley
Website: www.mattlintonmusic.com

Matt Linton was born and raised in St. Stephen’s, New Brunswick, Canada. He is an ordained minister and has filled many roles over the years – Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, International Evangelist and he has served on the mission field several times in Guatemala.

Matt is married to Cynora and they have three children. The family travels full-time with their music ministry spreading the gospel of Christ through concerts and preaching. Matt has released three projects as a southern gospel artist and has won several awards from Maritime Gospel Music Association (MGMA) including 2016 MGMA Male Soloist of the Year.

Matt’s latest project is entitled I’ve Got To Praise Him. It features a variety of songs that you will enjoy. Starting off is a medium tempo song “I Can’t Explain,” and it speaks about all that God has done and how He comes through. Our hopelessness becomes victories and we know that only God can do this. What a song to start the project. “Down On My Knees” slows the pace down a bit but then “He’s Still In The Fire” is a peppy song that you may be familiar with. “Let The Blood Flow” and “Help Me” slows it down again.

“That Sounds Like A Job For God” is a peppy one, and you will find your toes tapping and hands clapping. “He Is” is another song that you might be familiar with if you are a Triumphant Quartet fan as this is one that they do. It talks about the books of the Bible and tells just what God is in each of them. Picking the pace back up with “The Original Superman” another familiar tune, and “There Is A God” slows the pace again. This song was one of my favorites on the project, and it tell how God made it all, that He reigns on high and watches all, another powerful message.
Rounding out the project is the title cut “I’ve Got To Praise Him”, another peppy toe tapping, hand clapping one and “From Heaven’s Point of View” which is another familiar one and features his wife, Cynora.

I love how the mix of songs goes from slow to medium to peppy and then starts over again. This makes it an easy project to listen to as you don’t get bored with the songs sounding the same. Definitely one for your gospel collection, grab your copy of this project today!
