Sisters

Raised in a loving home by parents committed to teaching them to serve the Lord and to make Jesus the motivation for sharing their talents with the world, Kim Lord, Heather Day, and Valerie Ellenburg, all sisters, have embarked on a new endeavor that is taking the music world by storm.  Their worldwide tour is reaching people of all ages and musical tastes.

All of you ladies have had a rich history in Gospel music.  Explain where you started singing.  What prompted your love for Gospel music?

Kim Lord: Each of the girls started singing gospel music as children. Heather and I began singing with our mother, Brenda, in local churches.  The Ruppes recorded their first album when Heather and I were 9 and 10 years old.  Valerie started singing with The Ruppes at about age 10. We just grew up singing gospel music.

First The Ruppes.  Then LordSong, and now Sisters.  You've come full circle - what has that been like for you personally and professionally?

Of course, all we have known is singing with family.....The Ruppes, The Days (Heather and Greg Day's group) and LordSong (Kim and Michael Lord's group).  We have always wanted to sing together as Sisters.  It's been a dream for a long time, but we had to wait on God's timing.  We asked the Lord to open doors when it was the "right time", and when He did we would walk through them.  And so, we're walking through doors of opportunity and believing God for big things for this new ministry.

So what is Michael doing now that he's not focused solely on LordSong?

Michael has launched a new men's ministry that's been on his heart for a long time.  He is also pursuing his love of the outdoors by filming a hunting/fishing TV show/pilot called Michael Lord Outdoors.  He has a new website too, michaellordoutdoors.com.  Pray for him as he acquires sponsorships and funding to finish all the taping and editing.  We're praying that you'll see him on the Outdoor Channel (and other stations) in the very near future.

What kinds of opportunities have you seen for your ministry since starting Sisters?

Folks are just finding out about our new ministry.  Even though we've been in the industry for many years.....Sisters is technically a new ministry.  We have signed a recording contract with Daywind Records and are very excited about being a part of such a wonderful roster of gospel artists.  We've had the opportunity to perform on a Gaither Homecoming concert.  We've been a part of an E-Women's event.  Of course, we've loved being a part of Mark Lowry events all across the country.

What's the response been like from fans of both The Ruppes and LordSong?

The response to Sisters has been absolutely wonderful.  Fans have been so excited to hear us.  Industry peers have been more than welcoming and encouraging.

Tell us about the new CD - Renewed.

We wanted to pay tribute to The Ruppes so we decided to re-record some of our favorite and fan favorite Ruppes songs.  We called it Renewed because there are a few small changes to the arrangements....kind of a little facelift to the previously recorded songs.

Any plans for a mainline release of new material?

YES!!  We are working now on our very first Daywind recording.  Our first release will be a "live in the studio" DVD called Live at Oak Tree.  All of the Daywind artists are doing one.  These videos will be aired on cable channels like GMC, Inspiration Network, etc.  This kind of television exposure will sure be a boost for Sisters as we are trying to get our name out there and let everyone know what we're doing now.  We're also working on a full mainline album for Daywind.  We're looking for the final songs right now.  We should be able to release it by early next year.  We are so excited.

What has God been teaching you lately?

God has been teaching us to TRUST Him.  Its easy to tell someone else to trust the Lord, but when it comes down to trusting Him for yourself, sometimes it's not that easy.  It can be difficult to let go of your own wants and plans and give everything to God and say "may Your will be done."  Trusting is a choice we have to make everyday.  Even when we can't see what God is doing or how He's going to work everything out, we have to choose to TRUST that He is working out His wonderful plan for our life.

Sisters are fabulous! I only *wish* they were closer to the West Coast. I try to see them at least twice a year SOMEWHERE! smile "Lord's Prayer" is terrific and "Under His Wings" is amazing. My fav on their new CD is "There You Are." If you get a chance to see them in person, do it. You'll be blessed. Plus, all 3 are soooo gracious. smile
