I remember the first time I heard Brandon Andrews. I was sitting in a showcase at the National Quartet Convention, and this young guy I had never heard of hit the stage and immediately captivated the crowd with his booming voice and impressive stage presence.
Andrews carries a voice that is much more mature than his 20 year old body. This is plainly seen on "Wounded Soldier" - the albums second cut. Andrews also out an impressive interpretation of "Jesus Loves Me" - which shows off a slightly bluesy sound from the strong vocalist. Andrews also knocks it out of the park on the hymns "It Is Well" and "How Great Thou Art."
The main drawback to this release is the lack of upbeat tunes. Three of the album's 10 cuts are all that could be classified as uptempo - and so the pacing feels a bit bogged down because of that. "Higher Ground," one of the albums fast songs, shows off that Andrews is capable of commanding a song of that style.
Overall, if you haven't heard of Brandon Andrews - give yourself some time - cause he'll be blasting through the Southern Gospel industry very soon. This guy is just overflowing with talent.

Didn't he get auditioned for the baritone position with The Perrys after Nick Trammell left?

I'm not sure Aaron - he's definitely good enough to fill that position in any group - that's for sure!
I could have sworn that he almost had the job (and even did a couple concerts with them), and then Troy Peach got it. Saw it on Facebook or something like that...
I wholeheartedly agree that he's good enough for any group!
