-SWEET SEPTEMBER-

Welcome September! I love September! It is a wonderful, wonderful month. It very well could be my favorite month out of the entire year! September is full of things that I love. Things like High School Football! Nothing better then loading up the vehicle with friends and family members on a September Friday night in Northeast Ohio and going to a local high school football game! Apple Cider! Man I enjoy cuddling up with my wife on the couch, popping in our favorite Gaither Video and enjoying a warm cup of Apple Cider from Bauman Orchards of course! Then there’s what I call “Shorts & Sweatshirt Weather” which usually happens in September. Go for an evening stroll in the park, too hot for a sweatshirt, too cold for shorts, so you combine the two! Ahhhh September!

Then of course comes the highlight of the entire month for any Southern Gospel Singer, or fan, the one, the only National Quartet Convention!!! Now we’re talking! This will be our 4thyear attending NQC and we truly love going to this event. Make sure you attend the NQC, it is a dream come true for any fan. It is a very intimate setting with all of your favorites in Southern Gospel Music, it’s a great opportunity to meet and greet with just about everyone who is involved in the industry. If you’re an artist and debating about attending NQC, the debate should end and you should attend! There is no need debating about whether or not to attend, there is nothing like NQC.

My first experience with NQC was as a 21 year old “punky” kid. I had heard that one of my favorite groups of all time the “No Names Please Quartet” was looking for a Lead singer. So I woke up early on Friday and drove the entire way from Creston, Ohio to Freedom Hall, walked up to the ticket booth and purchased a ticket in the “clouds” for the evening concert. That afternoon I met some people from my hometown that knew me from church and questioned, “What are you doing here?” I proceeded to tell them I was going to apply for a lead position. They laughed and said, “Don’t think you’re good enough, for that” Nothing like brothers and sisters in Christ being encouraging to one another! Amen?

To make a long story brief, I never even introduced myself to the “Quartet” but NQC was just the greatest thing I had ever seen, ever! It was the best Christian Entertainment Event that I had ever attended. So when we started singing in 2006, I told Mom, and Josh no matter what we have to go to NQC in September. Then in 2007 “The Copenhavers” purchased our first booth space at NQC. Booth number #828 right beside Sould Out Quartet, and The Down East Boys Quartet, they made us feel so comfortable. They treated us like Christian Brothers and Sisters and made our first week at NQC very special! I love September, football, apple cider, shorts & sweatshirts and of course NQC! So make sure you stop into Booth #329 and visit us this year! We’ll see you in Louisville, KY at The National Quartet Convention September 12-18!
