By the way, I’ve got some acapella song soundtracks if anyone is intrerested. (Blank cassettes).
I love it! Several years back I went to the Gold City table and I was looking at their soundtracks from one of their cd’s. I asked if a particular acappella song was included and Doug Riley looked at me and very carefully explained to me that there wouldn’t be a track since it was acappella! I thanked him and walked away.
Well, if you still need the song, I could look through my blank cassettes. I probably have it and would make you a great deal.
BTW, The Isaacs have some unique accapella singing too.
Yeah i forgot about the isaacs accapella they’re one of my favorites!!!!
A couple of years ago there was a group that sang from the floor of freedom hall at NQC.Several times a night the camara would focus on them and they would do an accapella number . Their name escapes me at the moment.
Does anyone recall what their name was?

Most groups don’t do a capella because they can’t! It takes a very special blend that many groups (unfortunately) don’t have. It is one thing to do a song in the studio, where it can be edited and cleaned up. It is another to do it live. Much easier to use lots of tracks and stacks to enhance the sound than “go naked” in public. As Beethoven said “And the organ..oh what a multitude of sins it doth cover!”

I agree with another poster that I like a little bit of a capella in a concert, if the group has the talent to pull it off properly. As has been mentioned, the Martins are really great at it, as are the Isaacs. That makes one wonder if the sibling connection makes it easier to anticipate and and nail the harmonies. The Isaacs do some pretty complex harmony in some of their a capella renderings.
My brother and sister and i sang one acappella number(Swing Low Sweet Chariot) for several years. One evening just before a singing a storm hit and knocked out the electricity so we pulled out a hymn book and also sang several classic SG songs we knew and wound up singing acappella for about 45 minutes . Everyone loved it and we still get positive comments from people who were there that night ,so we usually do at least 4 or 5 acappella numbers when we sing now.
Many years ago at a concert in Ohio in early March, the electricity went out. The Kingsmen were singing, and of course had the full band , with Anthony playing an electic keyboard. The guys didn’t miss a beat, just kept on singing. They did probably 15 minutes in the total dark, no tracks, no instruments. To this day, it is one of my most cherished memories.

Heard the Kingdom Heirs do two or three songs accapella when their power went out on stage. Guys just kept on singing until they restored the power like nothing happened.
