Just got home from a great morning at Dave Edwards’ Breakfast Club in Shipshewana, IN. Geraldine and Ricky were funny as usual, but also there was the new trio, Freedom, comprised of John Rulapaugh, Josh Garner and Joel Tremble. Folks - if they come your way, run, don’t walk to get your tickets! These guys are great. Of course we knew that Josh and John were great artists after each was was the Florida Boys and Doves/Palmetto respectively, but together, they are dynamite!!! Wonderful time. I even got to reminisce (sp?) with John a bit about the, I THINK 2d Chatters’ luncheon that Harold Timmons had for his chat room. We actually had entertainment - some of the chatters and the brand new group, The Dove Brothers! As John said this AM, the chat room made the Dove Brothers famous almost before they started. Good times.
Have any of you had the pleasure of hearing them? They have a very traditional sound, for those of you who care! LOL
I seen them a couple of times now and think they are wonderful!!! I saw them last Saturday and hope to have a concert review and some more videos posted soon.
I saw them at the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion, in August….......they were great, but sang mostly new songs from their CD. Prior to forming the Freedom Trio, they sang together with the Blackwood Quartet for awhile. I got to see them in that group, as well.
Arguably, John and Josh are the top tenor and lead singer in SGM, or at least on the short list.
Wonder what the odds are that they will recruit Gene McDaniels to sing bass for them in the future?
I’m guessing that you mean Gene McDonald. If so, I think they’ll have a hard time prying him out of the Gaither group. They sound good as a trio. I really like their baritone, Joel Trimble, and I think he holds his own very nicely with such strong singers as John and Josh.
Yes, Dinana, I meant Gene McDonald…..thanks for correcting me. Josh made a comment at the GOGR, about getting a lot of questions about a bass, and he said something like “it’s a work in progress”. Not sure if he was just saying that to get people to quit asking, or if they are actually working on getting a bass. You are right, they are good like they are.
That Allan Kendell is an amazing singer! The FB page says Joel Trimble is a member. Did he leave recently? Josh mentioned they were on the road a year.
There is listing in the group lists but I didn’t see a thread. We’ll have to ask Diana about that. Is the 3rd guy new??
never hear them either, but I am really blessed!
I have always been a fan of Josh. Never heard John or Allan before.John is SO smooth, just what I like! Allen is just awesome! reminds me a lot of Mark Trammell how he steps on the gas!!!
Tried to watch but when it would download I would hear a few words and then the screen would freeze.
John lives here in Seveirville, Tn. Josh lives nearby, not sure about Allan.
