If you love good ole’ toe tapping, hand clapping, foot stompin’ classic southern gospel music with a message of hope, love, peace and assurance, then let me state right now, this is the project for you! SWEET SOUTHERN JOY is the latest CD release from a new family group called THE PRUITT FAMILY and this new project is all of that and more. Really nice production and strong vocals by this husband and wife, Mark and Tina and then joining them are their daughters, Brooke and Alexis. I did a little more research on them and checked out their Facebook and Twitter accounts and then looked up some YouTube videos and these folks seem to be so passionate about what they sing and share, and their energy and love for Jesus is absolutely contagious. I loved the name of the project, SWEET SOUTHERN JOY, it and the cover perfectly sum up what is inside.
The project, SWEET SOUTHERN JOY, features the fast rising single, “Bring It All to Jesus” and it had be at the first verse, a great song that all of us can relate to. Starting off the CD is a wonderful tune, “O What A Name, then it goes into the classic “The Love Of God”, which they dress up so nicely, and then they cover one of my favorite songs of all, “Peace In The Midst of the Storm”, and they do a fine job. Tina is a powerful vocalist and I can tell the fans and friends of The Pruitt’s, will love her. Several other wonderful songs on the project that stood out to me were, “Tommy’s Prayer”, a sweet sweet song, “Faith Like That”, He Stills Moves Mountains”, and the ending track was great, “Nobody Like Jesus”.
For you true southern gospel music lovers, take a listen to this new group, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
