Delays Are Not Denials
Fundamental to the Christian walk is one’s prayer life. Thankfully, I have found that God always answers prayer and sometimes He says “Yes.” Occasionally, He will say “No.”
Often, He says “wait.”
I love the “yes” answers to prayer and I can tolerate the “no” moments, but I dislike the occasions when He says, “wait.” That’s what He said to Mary and Martha when Lazarus grew sick and died. They had asked him to come earlier and defeat sickness, but in His delay, He conquered death. You see, God can give you something “good” now but waiting ultimately brings what is “better than good” and ultimately what is “best”. Actually, a child of God can expect what is “exceedingly, abundantly, above all that you can ask it think according to the power that works within you .” Ephesians 3:20
God’s delays are not denials. When he says “wait” He hasn’t said “no”, He’s just saying, “not yet.” Like any plane in the sky, you must have enough fuel to maintain a holding pattern when you get in one. Our fuel is called faith. Circling the field requires more than flying on fumes.
Here’s some fuel for you.
“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary and walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
