Getting Used To The Dark – Bryan Hutson
A few weeks ago, the Soul’d Out bus had an alternator issue.
The alternator is responsible for some of the electric on the bus. The major problem we had when the alternator went bad was, we had no lights on the inside of the bus.
For some who have never traveled on a tour bus, there are only windows in the front and back lounge. There are usually NO windows in the bunk area of the bus. So it’s VERY dark. So, when we had no working lights in the bus, it’s was virtually impossible to see anything.
By Sunday evening, we had been dealing with no inside lights for 3 days. We were somewhat “getting used to the dark.”
Thankfully, we used the flashlight on our Smartphones to see.
It’s sad but it seems that many Christians are also getting used to the dark. I mean we allow the “darkness” of this world to infiltrate our everyday lives.
John 15:19 “If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.”
God has chosen us OUT of the world NOT to “get used to the dark” but to BE A LIGHT. A light that others may see Christ.
Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world–like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”
That LIGHT, no matter how small, will pierce through the dark. Your light may be the only light someone will ever see.
It all starts with us.
Be the LIGHT
for your classmate.
for your friends.
for your neighbors.
for your spouse.
for your family.
for your community.
