It is hard to believe that December is upon us. This has been a long year for us. I’m not necessarily complaining either. I was thinking about some churches that I needed to call for scheduling in 2017 and it seemed as if we had just been there. I flipped through my calendar on my iPad to discover it was back in January and February and could not believe it.
I am one with a mindset that I savor each day. I never look ahead, except for scheduling concerts and services, because I do not want to miss one day with my amazing 8 year old son and my wife. I do not want to wake up one morning to find my son is 18 and wonder where did the time go because I was anxious to move from event to the other or one season to the next hurredly.
I just cannot believe, but for the fact I have looked at my phone several times today just to confirm, that it is actually December 1st!! This used to be a time of year I dreaded because things really slow down for us and that always meant it was time to go into survival mode. Thanks to some life choices and good decisions I do not enter the Christmas Season with that mindset anymore. Yes, things are slow and a few bills have to be put off until January and doubled up in that month but I don’t let it stress me anymore.
A funny thing happens as you get older. You get smarter and wiser. I love the fact that this time of year we at Walker Ministries, Inc start reflecting about the year and the things that went good and the things that we could have improved upon. We make it a point to try and learn from each and improve on both the good and the bad. It’s an exciting time as I start to map out our schedule and where we will go.
And finally, it is a time to slow down and understand why and what this season is all about. You cannot do that when things around you are buzzing by at 90 miles per hour. So from our house to your house, and from our family to your family, let us say that we hope that you have a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
