Freedom Quartet, from Sevierville, Tennessee, and has been singing good, traditional quartet music for several years. Comprised of veteran singers Dale Shipley, John Rulapaugh, Scott Mullins, and Burman Porter, these guys know how to select good songs and sing them extremely well!
Their new project, Where the Heart Is is their best to date and features some powerful songs. Some highlights include “I Won’t Apologize” which has a more modern country feel to it and features John. He is at his best here on this powerful song.
“We Will Stand” is another great middle of the road tune, and has a very timely message and this song would do well in radio as well as concert. “There’s Always Hope” again features tenor John Rulapaugh and once again this is a stand out performance.
“Are You Saved” is another powerful song that the guys deliver with conviction. This is sure to be another powerful song in concert that fans can definitely relate to. “The Master Freed the Slave,” “Home Sweet Home,” and “I Wanna Live Like Jesus” all have a great quartet feel to it and their harmony is tight and smooth.
The project closes with “I Am A Christian,” formerly recorded by The Greenes back in the late 90s/ early 2000s. The guys make this song their own, and it’s a great way to close this stellar project. If you’ve never checked Freedom Quartet out, you need to. This project is first-class and quartet fans will love it!
