This project starts with “Two Coats.” It is followed by the slow tune, “Give Me Jesus.” The pace picks back up with “It’s A Lonesome Road.” A guest vocalist sings the verses, and it’s really hard to understand what he’s saying. “I’ll Meet You In The Morning” is done acappella as a quartet. It’s the best one so far. Next up is “The Old Thing’s Walkin’ About”. It’s hard to follow lyrically. “This Blood’s For You” has a good message. “God Had A Hand In It” is a cute song. It’s got a fun, “head-bobber” tempo. It is followed by “Gone On Before”. It’s got a cool concept from a loved one’s point of view in Heaven and a very pretty song.

The next song is titled “Lost As A Ball In High Weeds.” I understand old sayings, but this is pretty cheesy to put in a song. It makes it hard to take the song seriously. Following that is the old song, “The Old Ship Of Zion.” He does it accapella with three other vocalists. Medium tempo “The First Step To Heaven” is next. I like the first line of the song, “The first step to Heaven is knowing you’re lost.” “The Family Bible” is another medium tempo song. It’s got the same feel as the last song. This is an old bluegrass song that I’ve heard by many different artists. “When You Pray, Will You Pray For Me” is a short acappella number. The female vocalist is a little too loud. She should have been blended a bit better. He ends the album speaking a poem while a guitar plays “The Old Rugged Cross” in the background.

The quality of the recording of this is not very good. It sounds like it may have been recorded in his living room. This is a bluegrass album. I wouldn’t call it a solo album. There are a lot of different vocals throughout the project. Some of the mixes could have been better and the song selection as well. If you like bluegrass music, you’d enjoy this CD.
