REVIEW: Chosen Road – It Never Gets Old

Deep in the hills of the Appalachian Mountains, a familiar sound bounces off of the majestic mountains that echo through the holler. The sound of old-time, bluegrass music that takes you back to another era in time.  This music that we hear is rooted deep in tradition that takes us back to the old country church with dinner on the grounds with the sounds of the acoustic strings being strummed as our families would join in with those tight harmonies lifting up the name of Jesus. Do you remember those days? I sure do! As I listened to the latest release of Chosen Road, my mind slowly walked down memory lane as I enjoyed the simple message of the Gospel arranged in such a unique and professional way with the harmonies that were so familiar from my childhood days.  To be honest, I haven’t heard many recordings that have done that to me in several years until now!

AWAKE MY SOUL introduces the album with a fun, uptempo arrangement with a solid lead vocal, accompanied by tight vocal harmonies on the chorus.  The lyrics remind me of an old hymn that reminds of the goodness of God.  JESUS WEAR THE CROWN has a medium tempo that continues to show the professionalism in the instrumentation, arrangement, and vocal ability of the group that shares humbleness and the ultimate rescue of Jesus and who He is.  There are 14 songs on this album including 2XBORN, I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE YOU, FRIEND OF GOD, THAT’S WHAT HEROES DO, ONE WILLING SOUL, LION AND THE LAMB, IT NEVER GETS OLD and several other songs that point people to Jesus.

My personal favorite song on the album is THAT’S WHAT LOVE LOOKS LIKE.  This song clearly illustrates love in different phases of life and concludes with the story of the cross.  It’s a powerful song that I know you’ll enjoy as well.

This album is definitely 4.5 stars in my book.  The music, the lyrics, the vocals and the Gospel are on display in this album and I’m sure you’ll agree that adding this album to your playlist is a must!  To find out more about Chosen Road, visit their website, and all social media and digital streaming music platforms.
