If you’ve never heard of The Veranda, it is a wonderful outreach of Veranda Ministries and a ministry supported by Impact Fellowship Church, they provide a time of nurturing respite care to allow family caregivers much-needed time for themselves. Services for families also include a monthly support group for caregivers and a semi-annual caregiver conference. The conference helps family members and other caregivers utilize biblical principles to cope with the physical and emotional toll of a stressful life situation. The number of clients in The Veranda’s respite program has doubled since its 2012 launch.

“Our nation is on the verge of a crisis in addressing the various needs of our senior adult population. Seniors and their families are having a hard time knowing where to turn for guidance, help and understanding their purpose, and I believe the churches should be on the forefront helping in this task. I strongly believe it’s our Christian duty to treat our senior adults with respect and dignity. It’s an honor for me to help churches and families learn how to celebrate the blessings that our seniors bring to our lives.” ~ Mary Anne Oglesby-Sutherly
