“In A Little While”
Thoughts From A Dusty Road: by Dusty Wells (May 2024)
Hey, my friends, I just wanted to share a little of my heart and thoughts from the last few days. My prayer is that you will read it slowly and go take a listen to a “classic Heart song” that ministered to me.
Yesterday was one of those days that all of us who are honest have occasionally gone through…yes, ALL OF US have those “crazy-busy-over-thinking” days. And mine was yesterday. I was ready to crash emotionally…ok, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but ya’ll know me. I was overthinking everything, in the midst of my hectic day, I found myself caught in the whirlwind of responsibilities, deadlines, worry, concern, and constant demands that are all important. I was rushing from one task to another, barely catching my breath, and in a fleeting few moments of silence, I found myself questioning if there’s more to life than this endless cycle with all we are dealing with. I cannot imagine what all of you have to deal with and handle each day. My dear friends, let me assure you, I love keeping busy and I absolutely love love what God has entrusted me with as I journey alongside each of you, I want to always be faithful and true to the call of God to help you and others with this amazing gift of “heart music”. I am not even sure what I had playing in my car, but all of a sudden out of the blue, Amy Grant’s song “In A Little While” gently began to play and as she began to sing, I heard the words of the song so clearly and I was so gently reminded of a truth we often overlook in this world, with all its chaos, hurt, struggle, battle and busyness. This is not our final destination.
“In a little while, we’ll be with the Father,
Can’t you see Him smile?
In a little while, we’ll be home forever,
In a while, we’re just here to learn to love Him.”
These lyrics echo a profound promise. I had forgotten the simplicity but the truth of this song for all of us. Despite the storms we face and navigate, there’s a calm waiting just beyond the horizon. One day, all of our struggles, all of our issues and trials will fade, replaced by an eternal peace in His presence. This song encourages us to lift our eyes from the immediate and fix them on the eternal. It’s what we write, sing and know to be true…but we get so busy.
Every hurried moment, every tear, every joy we experience is a part of our journey home. It’s easy to get lost in the busyness, to forget that we’re here for a purpose greater than the sum of our daily tasks. We’re here to learn, to grow, and most importantly, to love.
Think about the last time you paused and truly felt His presence amidst your day. It might have been a fleeting moment, a whisper in the chaos, but it was there. These are the moments that remind us of His promise, of the eternity that awaits us.
As we navigate through the noise and demands of our lives, let’s hold onto the hope that Amy Grant sings about. Let’s remind ourselves that all of this is temporary, and we are here to make a difference and He is faithful to the end, and He is always with us. Let’s remember that in a little while, we’ll be with the Father. Let this promise shape our days, our hope, our thoughts, our interactions, and our priorities.
When the world feels overwhelming, and the weight of our burdens seems too heavy to bear, let us find peace and solace in the truth that one day soon, He will return for us. This is not just a distant hope but a living reality that we can hold onto. It gives our lives meaning and our struggles purpose.
So, take a moment to breathe in right now, to listen to that still, small voice reminding you of the eternal joy that’s coming. In a little while, all the pain, all the rushing, and all the striving will be over. We will be home, forever with Him, and that’s a promise worth clinging to. That’s a promise to share with others.
