Nashville, Tenn. – Bluegrass sensation Danny Burns unveils his latest single, “Magnolia Wind,” featuring the legendary Tim O’Brien. This captivating track is part of the Irish-born artist’s acclaimed album, Promised Land, released in 2023 via Bonfire Music Group. Fans can listen to “Magnolia Wind” on all digital and streaming platforms HERE.
Originally made famous by Grammy-winning folk artist Guy Clark in 2002 and later reimagined by Emmylou Harris and John Prine in 2011, “Magnolia Wind” receives a fresh Bluegrass twist. This new version showcases heartfelt lead vocals from Burns and mesmerizing harmonies from both Tim O’Brien and Áine Burns, complemented by the talents of Scott Vestal (banjo), Billy Contreras (fiddle), Tony Wray (guitar), and Ethan Burkhardt (upright bass). The track was recorded at Neal Cappellino’s Doghouse Studios and engineered and mixed by Grammy-winning sound engineer Brandon Bell.
Since the release of Promised Land last fall, Danny Burns has been soaring in the Bluegrass scene. The album, which blends Bluegrass with Americana and Roots influences, features hit singles like “Come to Jesus” and “Dirty Old Town,” which collectively spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Bluegrass Today Gospel and Grassicana charts. Other standout tracks include the chart-topping “Someone Like You,” a cover of Adele’s hit, and “Some Might Say,” a reinterpretation of an Oasis classic.
So far, 2024 has been a bustling year for Burns. Alongside performing select shows, he recently opened The Celt, an authentic Irish restaurant and pub in Charleston, SC, which he runs with his wife, Áine, who is also preparing to release new music this month. The Celt has quickly become a hotspot for live music, hosting some of the country’s most exciting acts.
Danny Burns’ rising star is catching the industry’s eye, as he advances to the second round of the 2024 IBMA ballot in seven categories, including “New Artist of the Year,” “Album of the Year” (Promised Land), “Male Vocalist of the Year,” and “Song of the Year” (“Some Might Say”). His single “Come to Jesus” featuring Sam Bush is also in contention for “Gospel Recording of the Year,” “Collaborative Recording of the Year,” and “Music Video of the Year.” The IBMA World of Bluegrass event will take place in late September, with final nominations to be announced soon.
