Jennifer Keel to Host Bakersfield Believes Album Release Concert at the Crystal Palace
Bakersfield, CA — Experience the spirit of Bakersfield gospel music as Jennifer Keel and a lineup of beloved local artists come together to celebrate the release of Bakersfield Believes at the legendary Crystal Palace on December 21, 2024. This unique concert, hosted by Johnny Owens and the Bakersfield Sound, promises an afternoon of heartfelt performances honoring gospel roots and the iconic Bakersfield Sound.

The concert will feature Jennifer Keel performing each song from Bakersfield Believes alongside guest artists, Johnny Owens, Susan Raye, Monty Byrom, Jim Ranger, Rudy Parris, Ernie Lewis, Billy Haynes, Mario Carboni, Marsha Skidmore, The Lighthouse Boys, Kim McAbee, Theresa Spanke, Katie Taylor, and other talents spanning three generations of Bakersfield musicians. Highlights include a touching mother-daughter duet in memory of Sarah Keel, evoking the warmth and comfort of “Sweet Tea and Jesus.” The event will culminate in a powerful rendition of Will the Circle Be Unbroken, bringing together 25 local artists in a cross-generational musical finale.
About the Album
Bakersfield Believes celebrates the gospel music legacy intertwined with Bakersfield’s storied music history. This project, near to Jennifer’s heart, features both timeless gospel renditions and new original pieces by Bakersfield artists, crafted to capture the soul of the Bakersfield Sound. Many of the songs reflect the joy and simplicity of classic gospel traditions, echoing the Hee Haw gospel quartet style.

Jennifer shares, “Since 1996, the Crystal Palace has been a cherished venue in my life, a place of unforgettable gatherings that embody Bakersfield’s rich heritage. Hosting this album release concert here is a deeply personal milestone, blending my history with the venue and my love for gospel music and our community.”
Additional Information
Following the concert, the Crystal Palace will open to the public at 5:00 pm where Johnny Owens and the Bakersfield Sound will perform for the evening show. Although food service will not be available during the release event, attendees are encouraged to make dinner reservations for the 5:00 p.m. dining service at the Crystal Palace.
