Sunday Inspirations: Just Wait Until You See Why You Had to Wait

Sunday Inspirations: Just Wait Until You See Why You Had to Wait
By Lisa Ramsey, AGM Editor
Waiting is one of the hardest things we are called to do.
We pray. We hope. We believe. And yet… nothing seems to move. Doors stay closed. Answers don’t come. The timeline stretches longer than we expected, and if we’re honest, sometimes we start to wonder if God heard us at all.
But what if the waiting isn’t empty?
What if the waiting is where God is doing His deepest work?
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” — Isaiah 40:31
There are moments in life when we look back and finally understand why things didn’t happen when we thought they should. Why that door didn’t open. Why that opportunity didn’t work out. Why that relationship didn’t last.
And in that moment, clarity comes rushing in.
“That’s why I had to wait.”
God’s timing is never random. It is intentional, precise, and always working for something greater than we can see in the moment. While we are waiting on answers, God is working behind the scenes—aligning people, preparing opportunities, shaping our hearts, and protecting us from things we don’t yet understand.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. — Isaiah 55:8
Sometimes we think we’re waiting on God…
but in reality, God is preparing something we’re not ready for yet.
Let’s be honest—waiting is not our spiritual gift. If there were a “fast pass” for God’s timing, most of us would be refreshing it like we’re tracking a package that says “out for delivery.” We pray like, “Lord, I trust You completely… but just checking, is there an update?” And if we’re really honest, sometimes we don’t just want God’s will—we want it with overnight shipping.
The waiting season is not wasted.
It is where growth happens.
It is where trust is strengthened.
It is where God does the unseen work that leads to visible blessings.
And when it finally comes together—when the door opens, when the answer arrives, when the breakthrough happens—you won’t just be grateful for the blessing…
You’ll understand the wait.
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…” — Ephesians 3:20
What God is doing is beyond what you could ever pray for or imagine. Even in the silence. Even in the delay. Even when it feels like nothing is happening.
Something is happening.
God is working.
So if you find yourself in a season of waiting, don’t lose heart. Don’t rush the process. Don’t settle for something less just because it’s available now.
Hold on.
Trust Him.
Because one day soon, you’re going to look back and say:
“Just wait… now I see why God made me wait.”
Closing Prayer
Lord,
You know how hard waiting is for me. I wish I could say I’m always patient and peaceful, but You’ve seen me—I start wondering, questioning, and yes… sometimes even checking in like I’m tracking a delayed package.
But even in that, thank You for being patient with me.
Thank You for reminding me that just because I don’t see movement doesn’t mean You’re not working. Help me to trust You in the quiet moments, in the slow seasons, and in the times when I don’t understand what You’re doing.
Give me peace when I want answers, and patience when I want things to happen right now. Help me not to rush ahead of You or settle for something less than what You have planned.
And Lord, when it all comes together—when I finally see what You were doing all along—remind me of this moment, so I can say with confidence, “You knew exactly what You were doing.”
Until then, help me trust You more, worry less, and rest in the fact that You’ve got it all under control.
Amen.
