Ephesians 5:16 reminds us: “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”
I know this is coming to you later than usual today, but that goes right along with todays thought!
“Redeeming the Time”
Even late in the day—when the hours feel gone, when energy is low, and when we look back and wonder where the time went (like I did today)—God’s Word still speaks with purpose. “Redeeming the time” isn’t just about managing schedules or being more productive. It’s about recognizing that every moment still belongs to God, even the ones we feel like we’ve wasted.
There is something powerful in that thought for a Sunday evening. This day may be winding down, but it is not lost. God is not finished with it, and He is not finished with you.
To redeem time means to buy it back—to take what feels ordinary, or even broken, and use it for something eternal. A late prayer still matters. A quiet moment of reflection still counts. A conversation with God at the end of the day still carries weight in heaven.
We often think purpose only lives in big moments—services, milestones, or fresh starts on Monday morning. But Scripture reminds us that purpose also lives in the now. Even in the closing hours of a day, God can plant conviction, bring peace, restore joy, and realign our hearts.
Maybe today didn’t go the way you planned. Maybe you feel like time slipped through your hands. The beauty of grace is this: God redeems what we cannot. He doesn’t just forgive the past—He can still give meaning to what remains.
So tonight, don’t dismiss the rest of this day. Offer it back to Him. A surrendered evening is never wasted time.
Pray With Me…
Lord, teach me to value every moment You give me. Help me to redeem the time—not by my strength, but by Your grace. Even now, as the day closes, let my heart be turned toward You, and let nothing in my life be wasted when placed in Your hands. Amen.
