Monkey Bars – Bryan Hutson

My favorite class in school was RECESS! I remember as a young boy playing on the swing set, merry-go-round, and monkey bars at Westwood Elementary School.

The funny thing about crossing the monkey bars is that once you grab onto the first rung, in order to get to the next rung, you have to let go.

Life is like that. In order for us to move forward to our future, we have to LET GO of the past.

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Bitterness from past hurts, failures, guilt from unconfessed sins, unresolved issues, harboring unforgivensss .. If we don’t LET GO of those rungs, we won’t be able to move forward.

You say “Well, Bryan you don’t know how I feel.”

Yeah, I probably do.

For years I carried guilt from past mistakes and it was literally destroying me. I was finding that even getting out of bed everyday was a chore. However, once I totally surrendered that guilt to the Lord, He gave me His peace and I was able to move forward.

What RUNG are you still holding onto?

God is waiting for you.
He wants you to trust Him.
He has never failed you.
He never will.
Let go.

Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Prayer starter: “Father, I need You. I admit that I’ve been holding onto the rungs of my past. Help me to move forward and leave my past in the past. Allow The Holy Spirit to guide me in your ways. In Jesus name. Amen.”
