Vernell Morrow, who hails from Alabama, has grown up around gospel music in many capacities since she was a small child. Her project, In the Presence of the Lord, is filled with some great country gospel songs, many of which Vernell wrote or co-wrote with her husband Marvin Morrow, who is also a singer/songwriter.
The project kicks off with the fast paced “Happy Day” and sets the tone for this up-lifting project. Following close behind it is the up-tempo, “He’s God.” Both songs show off Vernell’s rich alto sounds. “I Know the Man” has a McKameys feel to it, and Vernell’s delivery is smooth and rich!
The title track, “In the Presence of the Lord” is a middle of the road country flavored song that is quite well done and very heartfelt. The up-tempo and fun “Since I’ve Met Jesus” also fits so well in the lineup and is a fun, yet great testimony song.
The popular bluegrass song, “Walking My Lord Up Calvary’s Hill” is also featured on the project and fits Vernell’s voice and this project so well. Vernell Morrow knows how to sing bluegrass/country gospel music. She chose great songs for this recording, and her future looks bright! Check her out and grab a copy of this project!
